This image was created with several images and elements from a wide variety of illustrations, photographs and some brush work that I created.
This photo was the original. As you can see I added color to the children by using layering techniques. I always keep the colors on a separate layer so if I don’t like it or want to add something totally different, I can do so with ease.
Adding a background is always a must . I created this one from the use of vector images and some old paper. I adjusted color and added overlays until I got that gothic feel. A bit of drapes on the top gives it a “stage” feel. I used a circular gradient and then darkened it to give depth behind the children.
The swirls and shapes have been created with brush work and vector shapes and then the use of clipping mask to pull the image out and together.
There you have it. The inspiration started from that photo of the two children. What inspires you? Color, shapes, a story?
